Songs for Self

A unique song-writing series focusing on self concept, self-esteem and motivation. Facilitated by Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and Certified Music Therapist, participants will share their stories, workshop their own songs, analyze lyrics as a group, and record a final product. Previous musical experience not needed – support on piano, guitar and voice will be provided depending on group needs. Facilitated by Trina Chakrabarti, RP (Qualifying), MA, MTA.

$250.00+HST per participant. 8 weeks. *This program may be covered by insurance under “Psychotherapy”. Space is limited!

Tuesdays

  • Tweens (ages 11-14)
  • Group 1: January 16 – March 5, 2024
  • Group 2: March 12 – April 30, 2024

Wednesdays

  • Teens (ages 15-18)
  • Group 1: January 17 – March 6, 2024
  • Group 2: March 13 – May 1, 2024
  • 5:00-5:45PM

What does a Songs for Self session look like?

This 45-minute group has been developed by, and is led by an Certified Music Therapist (MTA) who will guide the participants in:

  • putting their thoughts down in lyric form
  • crafting melodies
  • understanding accompaniment
  • recording
  • self-expression in a creative and meaningful way
