Who Can Benefit From Individual Music Therapy?

Our team of Accredited Music Therapists (MTAs) work one-on-one with clients, to build on their strengths, and work towards communication, academic and cognitive, motor, emotional, social, and musical goals.

We work with clients of all ages, backgrounds, and diagnosis, regardless of musical background. Our team is passionate about working with autism and other pervasive developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, speech and language needs and blindness, mental health difficulties, depression and anxiety, emotional trauma and abuse, end-of-life care and memory care, critical care, and personal growth.

We offer both in home, and in clinic sessions.

Music therapy services may be covered by extended health programs and insurance plans.

How do I start the process?

Individual music therapy starts with a music therapy assessment.

Based on the assessment, as well as input from the client, their family and/or treatment team, the MTA formulates goals and objectives for the music therapy sessions. For instance, improve articulation, increase self-esteem, or improve balance.

The MTA then prepares and implements an individualized treatment plan that uses music to reach goals and encourage growth.

We continuously evaluate the client’s progress towards goals, which can be built upon or adapted throughout the course of therapy.

What happens in a session?

Our team of MTAs creatively develop session plans that best suit the strengths and needs of our clients. Session may consist of singing, playing and instrument and recreating songs, song-writing, improvisation, rhythmic based activities, imagery, listening to music, and verbal counseling.
